OOTD :: of mad scrambling and cheating just a little bit

This week is brought to you by: “a little black dress or fit-and-flare style (or both), a long gold necklace, filigree jewelry, leopard-print flats, or black and cognac”.

For your viewing pleasure, I give you: a little black, a long gold necklace and leopard print.

The extra bits: Okay, so I’m cheating just a bit by judiciously editing the original prompt to suit my fell purposes. But I didn’t have the luxury of a leisurely weekend to plan today’s outfit so I think I’m allowed a bit of license.

I was originally going to showcase the little black dress in a fit and flare style, but my version was simply not gonna cut it on a day that is predicted to top off at 63 degrees with a certain chance of rain. After school yesterday, then – in between piles of laundry, a mad dash to the store to pick up birthday cupcakes, emptying the dishwasher, and making dinner – I managed to scuttle together this ensemble and snap hasty pics before the sunlight failed me.

Oddly, even though it has all the elements of my “comfort clothing” (skinnies, oversized button-up, blazer, Chucks), I’m just not satisfied with this outfit. Perhaps because it was thrown together. Perhaps because my style has definitely evolved from this previously de rigeur uniform. Or perhaps I’m feeling the call of summer and I can’t be bovvered worrying about looking sharp or snazzy or fashion forward.

Regardless, I’m just relieved I was able to get something posted today. And I’m doubly relieved that I’ll be warm and comfortable, if not completely happy with my look.

Random vent: Anyone else upset/sad/discommoded that Grooveshark is now defunct? I was thoroughly peeved that I lost all my Grooveshark playlists, my “to write by” one in particular, because I thought I’d have to compile all my songs again and arrange them in the proper order but dreaded doing so since I couldn’t for the life of me remember what songs were on what.

Enter Intrepid former TA #3, stage right. He directed me to Audiosplitter which recovered my playlists and introduced me to plug.dj which enables me to play my tunes in a fun, new format. Both sites pull from YouTube and Soundcloud, so there’s no fear of being shut down due to licensing issues.

Vive le vendredi!

You may not be satisfied, but my friend, this outfit screams utter and complete coolness.

I think you look FAB! But I know that feeling when you’re rushed and things just don’t feel quite right.
Thanks for being a part of Fun Fashion Friday & have a great weekend!

  3. I really like that you creatively interpreted the prompt! That’s what’s so fun about these “take one pass it on” challenges. To see the same elements but in each person’s style!

So would I join this party by “take one pass it on” from Maricel? Or do I do it from you? Is the whole concept explained somewhere? Where did it originate? Always up for new ways to remix the wardrobe! Maybe I’ll make this a featured week in the next round of 52 Pick-me-up (which will start in July — I publish the list of prompts for the entire year so I’m beginning to think up themes).

That’s true, but I still feel like I’m cheating. Just a little bit. ;p

You may feel like a hodge podge of elements, I think you look darn spiffy!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
