OOTD :: of putting past efforts to good use

This week is brought to you by: “leopard flats, simple black tee, skinny jeans, fitted cardigan, statement necklace, emerald, and camel”.

For your viewing pleasure, I give you: skinny jeans and emerald.

The extra bits: So this is yet another pre-made, pre-photographed outfit, two months ago created to be exact. I was to wear it for International Women’s Day, thus the green and purple, but it got too hot that day and I scrapped it for another. Then I was to wear it for Earth Day because of the green and the nature print, but I didn’t feel like wearing velvet on a field trip.

I really thought this was just the bad luck outfit and was getting ready to delete the pics from my phone and break it down from the hanger and re-purpose the different bits in another ensemble for another day.

But Alex very fortuitously handed me an opportunity to make use of it with her week’s Blogging Besties prompt, and rather than wasting my time and effort, I chose the lesser of two evils and decided to eschew my usual “Chucks on Friday” routine to finally showcase this outfit.

I really am enamored of the photo print of this top, as well as with its Audrey Hepburn-esque collar and its forgiving fabric. It truly is a win-win on all fronts and one would be hard-pressed to identify it as a mere Forever 21/fast-fashion piece; it’s that luxe in person.

I always have issues with styling green, and these pants are no exception. I feel vaguely leprechaun-ish in it, a feeling that’s exacerbated by my wearing black boots. Thank goodness the fab top coupled with the opulent purple velvet counteracts any major uneasiness I have.

And really, I’m just happy I can finally delete all these pics from my phone without feeling guilty.

Vive le vendredi!

  1. Ooooo, I love your new blog look! I know, I haven’t been here in awhile. And I’m glad I stopped by to see that shirt – it’s very cool, and very pretty. Luxe indeed!

Thanks for your advice on my post. It’s good to get objective and sensible opinions. Otherwise I’d just slack off and be a slob probably. Maybe in a few years I can do that. 🙂

    • Eheh. You’re the first one to comment on it. I got bored with the old theme and wanted a cleaner, more streamlined look and just change it today. Glad you approve; I do value your artistic eye on these things.

So does this mean you’re taking the full-time job?

  2. I have green pants (they’re jeans) and I love them. Maybe you just weren’t hip on this outfit with them. Not sure if you want my opinion, but I think they’d be great with this top and some tan sandals! jodie

    • I always value my readers’ opinions, my friend, and especially when they’re well-considered and sincere. I’ll try my green trou’ with sandals and see if I like them better; thanks for the tip.

On another note, I see you expressed interest in Dawn’s Friday linkups. (Yeah, I’m a stalker, LOL!) I say go for it! And link up with me on Tuesdays while you’re at it. Mine’s less popular and therefore perhaps less intimidating as a first go-around? Love to have you on board and see your fun posts!

    • I do too but I’m really hard-pressed trying to style it because it’s so distinctive. Must ponder…

    • As I mentioned to Emory above, I need to seriously consider how to best showcase this piece. Wondering if I ought to treat it as a neutral or play up its uniqueness. We shall see!

Tell me all about it! I'm listening...
