OOTD :: of serendipity and celebrating Plaidurday

This week is brought to you by: “cardigan, a lace top, colored pants, pattern paired with texture or something borrowed”.

For your viewing pleasure, I give you: a cardigan, a lace top, and pattern paired with texture.

The extra bits: Can we talk a bit about serendipity?

I knew I had to raise the roof for Plaidurday, but I also I aspired for 100% participation in Alex and Whitney’s Blogging Besties linkup. Then there’s Create28 this month, of course, so this mighty trifecta left me girding my blogging loins for the mother of all OOTD creations.

But it turned out not as world-ending as I’d anticipated, mainly because serendipity strikes once again. Not only did the Create28 folks conveniently make today’s prompt “plaid”, Whitney left us with a laundry list of items for Blogging Besties that today’s outfit managed to fulfill in spades.

The skirt is a recent F21 acquisition that is so substantial both in construct and fabric that I thought for a moment I’d opened a package from a different retailer. (Not wanting to badmouth my fave fast fashion store, but they’re not necessarily famous for their quality, now are they?). When I put it on and took note of the length on me – always longer than it is on the online model – I knew instantly I had to channel my inner librarian. I think an oversized cardi and a lace top with Peter Pan collar does the trick.

The fact that this entire ensemble was already pre-made and photographed before the Blogging Besties prompts came out only punctuates the serendipity even more.

Vive le vendredi!

EDIT: Oh, boo! I just popped over to Whitney and Alex and they’ve announced that the linkup feature of Blogging Besties will be no more. Le sigh. I wish they’d kept it for one more week so we can all go out with bang on Plaidurday…

  3. Oh, this is so cute! Your styling choices read sassy librarian, but throw your hair in a ponytail and switch to saddle shoes and you could be good Sandy from Grease. 😀

  4. I LOVE how all of this worked-out so well! And I have to say that it wasn’t really planned to be so convenient…but I’m glad it was! Bummer about our link-up, right? We weren’t getting very many linker-uppers but the bigger problem is that really only you and Selah were actually linking-up outfits that went with the Blogging Bestie theme. Buuuuuut, Alex and I love how great you and Selah are at participating so we want to keep including you! We’ll feature pictures of those of you who participate (aka you and Selah) the next week. OR we had the possible idea that we could start making this a three or four way rotation?! Because you two are so awesome at this! Just an idea though, I know that adds extra work. But let me know what you think about the changes!
